Wistful Maiden by Soraya Bradley

This piece "Wistful Maiden" was inspired by a fragment of poetry by super talented instagram poet R.M. Drake.

The pose was inspired by Rodin's sculpture "The Thinker". First exhibited in 1888,  "The Thinker" was a representation of the italian poet, Dante.

Exploring beauty and fragility through the combination of nature and the feminine. To me, flowers more than anything else symbolise femininity & fragility... The pink rose symbolise thoughtfulness, sweetness and gentleness. Historically, the white rose symbolized innocence, purity and secrets. their pure color pays homage to new starts and expresses hope for the future.

We are fragile creatures and our oldest stories explore life's suffering and the heroes who face the tragedy and prevail. Even in the most mundane seeming life, scratch just below the surface and an everyday hero is revealed.
